Doris LaMott Hoel, has been passionate about food her whole life. It all started while cooking with her mom, Antoinette, as a small child.
Chef Doris went to culinary training for 22 months and started her career first at a major hotel chain. She worked her way up from Pantry Cook to Assistant Banquet Chef. She traveled the country opening up new hotels for their grand openings.
She then became a baker for a small handcraft bakery in Minneapolis, Paradise Pastry. Doris worked her way up to a Journeyman Baker. She specialized in hand-made danish and specialty items. She was a baker for 11 years.
Chef Doris started Fun Foods Catering in 1989, specializing in customized catering. She always enjoyed creating memories of a lifetime: from weddings to funerals. Being as diverse as she is, Chef Doris can do almost anything per the client's request. This makes Doris's passion grow consistently.
Doris then became the Corporate Chef for a major company that fed employees and catered special parties for the company president. She stayed for 13 years, while still running Fun Foods.
In 2005, husband and wife, Dave and Doris, created the award-wining restaurant and wine bar, Chateau Lamothe. Winning the Mpls/St. Paul Magazine's Awards for 2nd place in Best Wine Bar and 3rd place in Best Wine List was an honor that will live with them forever. Their two children, Chris and Alyson, joined them in business and created amazing menus, ambiance and memories of a lifetime.
Now as Chef Doris starts another chapter in her life, the personal chef business has grabbed her interest. Her love for food, people and hospitality are the winning combination to be able to fill the need of young busy families, as well as the senior citizens who want to dine right in their own homes without all of the work.
